The global sales of mobile phones are still growing, around 229 million handsets were sold worldwide during the second quarter of 2006, up by 40 million on the same period last year, according to a report by analyst firm Gartner.

Telenor has awarded Nokia a global frame agreement for cellular transmission solutions and services. The Nokia solution helps keep operating expenditure in check, can be integrated into GSM and WCDMA 3G networks, and also meshes well with fixed network operations.
