Ericsson introduces 3G/HSPA for the home

Ericsson is introducing the Home 3G Access Point to provide local indoor coverage in homes and small offices providing full HSPA performance. HSPA supports up to 14Mbps in the downlink and 5.8Mbps in the uplink. With the Home 3G Access Point installed, the end-user’s mobile phone or 3G/HSPA enabled PC will switch from the regular outdoor radio network to the indoor radio base station the moment he or she walks through the door.

Vodafone and Yahoo to advertise on mobile devices

Yahoo! will become Vodafone’s exclusive display advertising partner in the UK. Yahoo! will use the latest technology to provide a variety of mobile advertising formats across Vodafone’s rich and varied content services. Yahoo!’s sales force and technology team will work with Vodafone to derive benefit from mobile’s unique advertising opportunities while delivering the best possible experience for both consumers and advertisers. Vodafone and Yahoo! intend to roll out the initiative in the UK in the first half of 2007.

Nokia and Elisa complete world's first WCDMA/HSDPA data call commercial network

Nokia and Finnish telecom operator Elisa carried out world's first WCDMA/HSDPA data call. The call was conducted in Elisa’s live network in Finland, and the equipment included the Nokia Flexi WCDMA Base Station with a special solution for sharing the site infrastructure of the existing GSM base station.

Ericsson to build and manage network in Bangladesh

Ericsson has signed a major deal with greenfield operator Warid Telecom International LLC to bring mobile communications to more than 60 million people in Bangladesh. The four-year network expansion and managed services contract involves supplying, rolling out and operating the operator's GSM/GPRS network in the capital city, Dhaka, which has the highest number of mobile users in the country.

Samsung and TVA mobile phone provider Sistema de Televisao S.A in Brazil, signed a contract on Wednesday to commercialize Mobile WiMAX platform in the city of Curitiba, Brazil. TVA plans to commercialize Mobile WiMAX services in Curitiba first, Parana State in south of Brazil, from 1st half of 2007. Access will be extended to other Brazilian cities over next years.
