T-Mobile has launched a new mobile handset featuring the fastest internet download speed for users. The MDA Vario II will use T-Mobile's existing 3G network, or use wireless internet connections when this is not available, to access the internet faster than has previously been possible on a mobile.

Manhattan residents and commuters donated nearly 2,500 no-longer-used wireless phones to the Verizon Wireless HopeLine(R) phone recycling program so far this year earning the borough the title of 'Number One HopeLine Recycler' in New York. Leading the borough were residents who made their donations at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store on 86th Street on the Upper East Side.

Swedish telecommunications equipment and services provider LM Ericsson Telephone Co. said on today that it won a services contract from Warid Telecom for its GSM/GPRS network in Bangladesh.

US wireless network operator Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone, has announced network upgrades and expansion in Indianapolis, Syracuse and the Capital Region in the US.

Cingular Wireless has recently signed a multi-year deal with HOST Communications to become the exclusive telecommunications sponsor of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with new cell sites in Latham and Saratoga Springs due to the continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents of the Capital Region. The new Latham site increases coverage and capacity along Route 7 from Lisha Kill Road to Wade Road, and along Albany Shaker Road from Route 7 to Route 155. The new Saratoga Springs site increases coverage and capacity in the City of Saratoga Springs, around Saratoga Springs State Park, and along Route 9.

The Nokia N93 was awarded the European Media Phone of the Year 2006-2007 by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA), Europe's largest multimedia press organization.

Cingular Wireless customers in Huntsville, Madison, Florence, Decatur, Muscle Shoals, Gadsden and Tuscaloosa now have more coverage in more places thanks to the completed integration of the AT&T Wireless and Cingular Wireless networks which added new cell sites to its local network. As a of result of the integration, customers across Central and North Alabama now enjoy the benefit of more than 135 additional cell sites leading to improvements in call quality, in-building, in-car and street level coverage.

Wireless equipment maker LM Ericsson on Monday announced deals worth more than $550 million to expand mobile networks in 17 Chinese regions.

T-Mobile connections have dropped up to 70%, and are set to fall further in August. T-Mobile is unlikely to put money back into the direct market until after Christmas. Dealers are now reluctant to connect T-Mobile following commissions cuts of 25 per cent at the start of the month. Many dealers have removed T-Mobile point-of-sale material from their stores altogether. Dealers are also frustrated because they have been saddled with stock that they cannot return to T-Mobile and cannot profitably shift. They have resorted to running T-Mobile stock down by ?drip-connecting? it. T-Mobile would not be drawn on its future channel strategy. Distributors said T-Mobile has already blown its acquisition budget for the year.
